Much of what has been called science is assumed by many people as facts. But science is made up of theories and experiments.
The dating of ancient articles that are dug up by archaeologists is almost always based on unproven theories. The longest actual changes in different materials that have actually been traced is seldom more than 100 years. It is, of course, quite possible that theories of radiometric dating, archaeomagnetic dating and the use of beams of ionized atoms are accurate, but as usual that is not of central importance since even if they are incorrect, we still end up being where we are now in our stress-free environment. We have very good evidence for all of the modern changes that are given in this thesis. In the part of my thesis relating to the changes during the past 200-250 years, most of the material is derived from what my great grandfather wrote and experienced starting from his relatively stable period that was mentioned both earlier in the prologue and in the “Stable 50s” chapter. |
